LAUSA WELCOMES BACK 'BIG MIKE' TO THE MANAGEMENT TEAM
After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography at the University of Louisville in 1998 and joining the U.S. Navy. LCDR Mike Preimesberger reported to NAS Pensacola, FL to begin flight training. Delays in the training pipeline led him to complete short tours as a research associate at Naval Aviation Training Center and on the Chief of Naval Education and Training staff, prior to earning his Wings of Gold as a Naval Flight Officer in January 1999. LCDR Preimesberger then completed F/A-18B Fleet Replacement training at VFA-106 at NAS Oceana, VA (Virginia Beach, VA) prior to reporting aboard VFA-105 at NAS Oceana, VA.
While attached to the Gunslingers, LCDR Preimesberger served as First Lieutenant, Assistant Operations and Quality Assurance Officer, deploying in 2001 aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) and again in 2002 aboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69), both deployments supporting NATO operations in the former-Yugoslavia and enforcing the United Nations no-fly zone and other sanctions in Iraq, along with starting the bombing campaign of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. He received honors as Fighter Wing, Atlantic Fleet and Carrier Air Wing THREEs Junior NFO of the Year during the tour. During combat LCDR Preimesberger was injured during an ejection and was place on limited duty status flying the Navy’s C-40 (B737) cargo jet. Next he joined VR-58 as the Training Office and Chief Flight Instructor. In 2007 LCDR Preimesberger transferred to the Air Force’s 84th Airlift Wing flying jets for the Department of Defense and other various organizations. While instructing, he continued to lead test efforts in support of further C-40 upgrades while completing a Master’s of Science in Aviation Management at The Naval War College.
In late 2009 LCDR Preimesberger transferred to the U.S. Naval Reserves and is a contract pilot for the Department of Defense. While spending time home with his family and enjoying his love for photography, he wouldn't change anything in his life as long as it was in the air in a plane. ... See more... See more
LCDR Preimesberger (well now Mike) has accumulated over 16,500 flight hours in 10 different aircraft models, and he has logged nearly 600 carrier arrested landings. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, and five Battle Efficiency awards.
Mike reassume his management positions with the LAUSA organisation and has been appointed Head of Training Standards (Fligh Instructors) & Director of Flight Training.

LAUSA AIR ORDERS 5 NEW AIRBUS A340-600
Lausa Air's Executive Chairman has today placed orders with Airbus as it seeks to re-introduce the A340-600 into its fleet. When Lausa Air launched in 2007, the 346 featured as one of its launch aircraft but the airline faced many issues with the aircraft. The main issue at the time was with type rating and training between the 321's on the fleet and the 346's. This issue has now been resoved as LAUSA has ordered a new variation of the 346 which will enter service within the next few weeks following delivery from our contracted painters Stormy Designs... www.stormydesigns.org.
Once the first delivery has been made to Oakland, Dave Kabloona one of LAUSA's longest serving Flight Instructors has been assigned to cross train all the LAUSA Flight Instructors on type. Stay tuned for more news....

CHARTER CHATTER
Passengers in Bahrain indicated that they wanted to spend a couple of days there anyway, so i'll do a few from/to Cairo and go back to the charters when the passengers call me.
By the way Head Office did receive a phone call from your passengers praising your professional service and smooth flight, thought you would like to know.
ps. I am in Helena, Montana with a movie producer, camera crew and movie star at the producer's lodge and about to take them on a charter scouting out a new location for their next movie, alpine theme.
RHIP, I guess, eh? Beautiful, mountainous fresh air Helena Montana in a beautiful producers lodge......Dusty, windy Cairo, Egypt living with camels out of a tent......no complaints, I love it anyway!!!!
Just wanted to let you know that my Middle East charters are complete. Passengers were a little nervous flying a rather steep approach near the mountains approaching Lugano, Switzerland. That, coupled with a rather short runway made for a palm sweaty approach and some hot brakes. That God for thrust reversers! But when they saw the snow for skiing, they were ecstatic!!
Now, that's pretty cool, get to fly around in a fancy Falcon with no passengers or freight? Where do I sign up for that?!?!?
Well Hey, just for your information the movie stars would have all been in the hospital if they had been on board for the landing, going to navigate on the GPS to the runway from now on, just wait until you have to do charter 6, I can't wait to go desert flying again.
Kind of a rough landing, was it? You can always claim to be a naval aviator and thats how we land on carriers!!!
The landing was unreal, took out a tree
Today I am going to try and get that Falcon into Lake Tahoe for more skiing.
You want a real challenge for the Falcon; try the approach into Lugano, Switzerland. Now THERE'S a challenge for a jet pilot! In fact, doing some real life research, you need special operations permission to operate in and out of Lugano IFR, also only certain aircraft with certain performance characteristics are allowed to go in and out IFR.
WELCOME
To all our new pilots and a special welcome back to two of our pilots who have been on leave for a few months and now have returned to join the crew.
A big thank you to Dan for many, many hours spent fixing up routes making training videos this month.
Pilots, an exciting challenge awaits you out there in the skies.
