LAUSA AIRSHOW 2010
LAUSA yearly air show at LAUSA AIR MAIN base 'Metro Oakland' is fast approaching in June with a confirmed date of 19th June 2010 set. Last year’s event was well attended by members and we hope this year’s event will be a smash. This years event is in conjunction with our partners ‘SOUTH EAST VIRTUAL’ so were expecting double attendance this year.
Last year we put all the displaying aircraft in an auto install pack and sent it out to any members attending so they see the aircraft displayed correctly... We plan to do the same again this year.
The event will start at a set time and an hour before display a session will go up with full atc including a centre controller. You can fly into Oakland with full ATC. Watch the air show from your parked aircraft, listen to the atc traffic during the displays and then depart back home with full atc. We are planning another 4 hour event!!
I need some feedback from you...
I am organising the display schedule right now..... Please respond via email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you want to be a display pilot at the airshow.

TESTIMONIAL BY RETIRED FAA AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER
I'm a brand new member, but I had to put in my two cents' worth (or thrupence if you're on that side of the pond)... I hadn't flown a flight sim in many years, but recently bought FSX and thought I'd try the online thing. One or two sessions here and there - it was pleasant enough. Then one evening, I spawned myself on the ramp at KSFO (San Francisco, California). While doing my preflight, I listened to this guy who was ground, tower and NORCAL TRACON. AND he was texting in the chat box, as well! I was blown away - this guy was exceptional! No one I'd heard "acting" as a Controller had even come close to this guy. After joining LAUSA, I discovered his name is Zack Wagner and he's never been an Air Traffic Controller. Well, Readers, I have - for over thirty years. Take it from me, if you want quality ATC, you've come to the right place.

LIVE A.T.I.S. BROADCAST - UPDATE
LAUSA's ATC has been using the new live ATIS sytem for a week now and pilot report good, clear sound quality in the message. Until further notice, the standard LAUSA ATIS freq is 118.75. As LAUSA strive to better the pilot experience for you, please bear in mind that live ATIS is a new toy for LAUSA controllers so please be patient with ATC. Please note that it take some practice to record a seamless ATIS broadcast. To record a broadcast, the controller has to go off freqency and record the message, then remotley send the recording to the server. The whole process takes about two minutes. All controller have been briefed to only record ATIS only when traffic allows. If the Air Traffic Controller tell you to ' standby for two minutes, tower is stepping away, please do not call the tower,' this means he/she is busy recording a message so please do not contact the tower or you will ruin thier ATIS recording with your transmission!!
